Space Talks #015: Helen Kirkum
Helen Kirkum is a London-based artist, designer and consultant who creates bespoke sneakers from recycled or dead-stock materials. She’s collaborated with the likes of Adidas and Reebok and is widely considered a pioneer of the hacked and deconstructed aesthetic of the sneaker industry. Through her practice, Kirkum challenges us to rethink the meaning of consumption and the way we interact with the products we own. She catches up with Space Available to talk purpose-and-material-driven design, human craftsmanship and the importance of repair.
